Greensboro, North Carolina - September 7, 2004 - APEX Analytix, a leading provider recovery audit software and services, has just concluded a successful 2004 Top Gun Conference series and finalized event dates for the 2005 series. The first event will be held in Tampa, Florida, on February 27th through March 1st, 2005, and the second in Greensboro, North Carolina, on August 21st through August 23rd, 2005.
The fifth Top Gun Conference, the most recent in the series, was held at the 4 ½ star Grandover Resort in Greensboro August 15-17, 2004. In attendance were corporate accounting heavyweights representing eighty of the U.S. Corporations on the Fortune 100 list.
Twice a year the conference brings together the “best of the best” in the accounts payable industry: executives from large-scale operations that are looking to boost their level of performance. The event is designed to stimulate thinking through a series of thought-provoking presentations and panel discussions on a variety of financial topics such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Optical Character Recognition, and fraud.

This year’s Greensboro conference featured keynote speaker, Ms. Teri Lyn Norwood, who was convicted of embezzlement at McClellan Equipment, Inc., in Hanford, California, and spent 13 months in a detention center. She offered guests insight into the mind of an employee who is committing or contemplating fraud by offering signs to look for and details of how she did it.
Ms. Norwood says of her experience, “While I was incarcerated for 13 months of a two-year sentence for embezzlement, I knew I had to take this experience, turn it around and use it to create a positive and productive future for myself and others.”
Ms. Norwood’s speech was followed by a presentation on fraudulent disimbursements by Joseph Wells, Founder and Chairman of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Mr. Wells is a former FBI special agent and has investigated thousands of fraud cases. In his speech he educated guests on the many types of fraud and the impact it has on the national economy.
